Fall/winter footwear is normally favorites for shoe lovers. However, New York Fashion Week 2013 (NYFW) felt a bit heavy and serious to me. Replication of black, brown and blue were seen across each runway. Is the struggling economy resulting in practically in the fashion world? I don’t know. But I did notice a downshift of glam and over the top creations.
Is there a shift from platform pumps and sandals? Another question I cannot answer. I’ll have to keep an eye out to watch this curve. In the meantime, I complied a few contenders from NYFW 2013.
Pointy toe, cut out boots, heel Oxford, fur and exotic skins were everywhere.
Sixties mod squad booties and forties inspired pumps led the Segway.
Let’s get started.
I did enjoy Tory Burch’s Oxfords and Mary Janes. The texture on her oxford truly resembles blue and green fish scales!
The detail on the Mary Jane take this pump up a notch.
Tibi and Tommy Hilfiger
As you can see cutout boots marched heavily down the runway. I think it’s a hip alternative to the traditional leather boot. Wear it right ladies!
Fur was ever apparent on most collections and incorporated into their footwear. Specifically Alexander Wang, Christian Siriano, Donna Karan, Marc Jacobs, and Victoria Beckham added touches of fur to accent.
Derek Lam’s angular pointed pumps and ankle boots leads the pack for the trended minimalism category.
Altuzarra’s high heel 60’s mod squad inspired boots were sosphicated.
A few designers did infuse color onto the runway. Wes Gordon, Delpozo, Kate Spade and Alice and Olivia.
Wes Gordon’s velvet ankle boots brought energy and texture.
Delpozo featured fun and flirty patent leather booties embellished with roses. They remind me of candy.
How about Alice and Olivia’s single sole pumps featuring a diva wearing sunglasses with bright bold lips.
So adorable! I want!
Kate Spade offered fun and flirty 40’s inspired heels. Exciting fuchsia, bow ties and taxi heels. Too fun!
Creatures of the Wind combined nylon, mesh and suede into pointy toe booties.
I found them quite refreshing and can be easily incorporated into any wardrobe.
In Single Sole Pumps Are Not To Be Ignored For Spring and Spring, I talked about the return of pointed toe to footwear.
Fall footwear is a key indicator of this trend shift.
Thakoon along with Altuzarra went for Mod Go Go!
Victoria Beckham can do no wrong in the fashion world. This has been a great year for her. Victoria has collaborated with Manolo Blahnik and the result were two-tone folded leather pumps.
So hot! I want!
BCBGMaxazria took the over the knee boot, cut out inserts and added a cap toe. Stop it! Tell me these aren’t fabulous!
My favorites were Prabal Gurung’s and Christian Louboutin for Marchesa collections. We recently saw 2013 fall Gurung’s release.
Prabal Gurung’s olive-green military buckle strap pumps are SERIOUS! No one can touch their gold blade stiletto heels.
Marchesa’s collaboration with Christian Louboutin? Well, it was simply beautiful.
I couldn’t leave out The Blonds continued partnership with Christian Louboutin. Each year their shows are held in the meatpacking district.
No fashion week is complete without them.
Take a look.
Overall, NYFW wasn’t bad. Did you watch any runway shows? What did you think?
