Solange Knowles is a mother, singer-songwriter, actress, model, dancer, and DJ. All at the age of 26. She is the younger sister to one of the most famous entertainers in the world. However, Solange is no longer thought of as Beyonce’s little sister. Solange is becoming her own brand. In fact, she is known simply for the being the exact opposite of her sister. There is nothing more defining than entering womanhood and becoming the person you are meant to be.
I’ve been wanting to do a post on Solange for quite some time now. When I think of Solange the first word that comes to mind is fearless! Her style is featured on every national, international fashion magazine and blog. We all watch with anticipation of what will she wear next? Solange has been seen wearing shoe designers Vera Wang, Giuseppe Zanotti, Rachel Roy, Prada, Walter Steiger, Gucci, Burberry just to name a few.
I would describe Solange’s style as classic modern with a twist of eclectic.
Solange’s beauty reminds me of Sheila Johnson. A former fashion model who graced GQ, Essence and other retail ads ( http://supermodelicons.com/sheila-johnson/2009/09/11/).
You may remember Sheila Johnson as ‘The Lady-In-Waiting” In Coming To America.

Solange’s 5′ 8″ frame allows her to identify the perfect runway evening gown, or ensemble and incorporate it into her own personal style. Recently, she talked of criticism of wearing natural hair. Critics claiming it sometimes looks “unkept”. I want Solange to continue to embrace her natural beauty. Hold her head higher. Become the best Solange for Solange and not for critics or naysayers. One of the most liberating things I’ve ever done was embrace my own. Enjoy it. Be original as God only created one of you.
Somehow, I get the feeling Solange is just getting started. I can’t wait to see what’s next for her. I want Solange to know we support her. I wish her continued success.
